One game away from the Super Bowl....

SF 36-NO 32

...next Sunday, the 49ers play the Giants at Candlestick, for the NFC Championship and a trip to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994.  Yeah, we've been that bad for that long...
Actually, the last time the Niners were in the Playoffs was 2002, but pfffttt...nothin' happened.  This year...THIS YEAR....

(Incidentally, it WAS fun to watch the sports commentators stumble around and grudgingly admit the Niners accidentally really won the game this weekend.  But honestly, they still aren't really giving them a whole lot of credit or chance next weekend! I'm pretty sure the 49ers could win 10 Super Bowls, back-to-back, and they'd still be pulling for Green Bay...or...and this makes me NUTS....the Steelers.)

Let's not forget that score, TOASTBA...

Lights! Camera! Action!

Well, it's not a movie, but all those things were involved...

This last week was the Missoula Children's Theatre in Jordan and our family participated for the first time.  Maybe the last time, too.  I don't know.

The MCT is a program designed to bring exposure to the arts to little communities by having two (insane) people driving from little town to little town with their sets and costumes, recruiting about 50 kids to sing and act in a play that's performed after basically 4 days of intense practice after school.

I hauled Maggie and Angus in to town on Monday afternoon for auditions.  Maggie was the one I thought would try out, but they took Angus, too!  And after two hours of audition, they both got little spots in the cast.  This meant that we'd go to town every day after school and they'd practice from 3:30-5:30, get a little supper break provided by the civic clubs, then Maggie would practice again from 6-8 p.m. and we'd drag home.  On Friday, they practiced in the morning, broke for lunch, then had their first performance!

I'm not gonna lie to you...it was hard on everyone.
I won't enumerate the repercussions, but I can say that by Saturday morning, we were all sort of dragging around, crying over...nothing, bags under our eyes, sick of sandwiches and driving.

The good parts, though, are that the kids got to spend time with other friends and use up all the drama they have in their bodies.  I found out there really ISN'T anything to do in Jordan for 4 hours a night, so I spent some quality time in the business room with my cousin, and at the library, and bothering my friends who live in town.

Here are some pictures from King Arthur's Quest:
(There was no flash photography, and I didn't have the settings on my camera tweaked, so you get a lot of low-light action blur in these...)

Maggie was a Camelot-ian, or a villager...who dug holes for no apparent reason, but they would come in handy later in the play.  I don't know. It was a small speaking part, she delivered it loud and proud, we're good with that!

That's my girl...going the opposite direction...

Angus and his cousin, Lindsay, were sidekicks in the play.

They were the cutest things, and spent WAY more time watching the crowd watching them, than anything...

Don't you just want to smooch 'em?!

At the end, there was a curtain call where we got to take flash pictures, but all the kids were looking dazed and exhausted! Can't imagine why...
The little knight, with the moustache, cracks me up!

Cheesy grins, "Are we done, yet?", stage makeup itches...and when you're IN the play, you can't watch the play and eat popcorn, a point Maggie made and which may influence her decision to participate next year...or NOT.  She's leaning toward the audience role, right now.
