...for ice cream!
(This is one of Maggie's more edgy looks. She was playing fairy dress-up when the Schwan man pulled into the yard, and the most convenient footwear was cowboy boots. So, she's either a Western fairy OR a rodeo queen who didn't have enough money for the rest of her outfit.)
I don't know if anyone else has the Schwan man in their neighborhood, but here in the sticks, it's so exciting when he pulls into the yard with his truck of frozen wonders! In the summer, we don't have to worry about getting ice cream home from town without melting; it's delivered to our door. And on Schwan day, Mama usually gets some sort of frozen entree for the evening meal. Maggie was positive he needed a kitten, but he declined. Every year we have kittens. Every year we try to give them to the Schwan man, the UPS man, the MidRivers Telephone man. Every year they make it out of the yard kitten-less.

And these are the pansies, awaiting planting this week. Angus has been systematically plucking the blossoms off, and it's causing great distress to his big sister.
(Around here, we don't mess around with dead-heading the flowers.
We just go ahead and live-head them.
Saves time.)
